Though the coffee are made from Segafredo Zanetti beans from Italy, the flavors were rather bland.

Fancy Cup Cake
Fancy Cup Cake

Unlike the coffee, the cakes were rather pleasing. However, the cakes were a little pricey at MYR 11.50 for Banana Temptation and MYR 4.50 for the fancy cup cake.

Verdict: There are two ways to concoct a good cup of coffee — first, through very good quality coffee beans; second, through high-end espresso machine. Opera didn’t have either of those.

Cafe Latte
Cafe Latte

Cafe Latte in Coffee Chemistry Cafe has a distinguished flavor due mostly to the premium coffee bean and fresh milk they use. The coffee art, however, does make the coffee more irresistible.

Mocha

Mocha tasted just right as it was less sweet than the ordinary Mocha drink you find elsewhere.

Bacon & Onion Frittata
Bacon & Onion Frittata

Bacon & Onion Frittata is the perfect appetizer — the dish is aromatic and scrumptious from the start to the finish.

Bad Ass Coffee located at Tropicana City Mall has opened its door since 2009.

Bad Ass Chocolate Doughnut
Bad Ass Chocolate Doughnut

Bad Ass Chocolate Doughnut is basically a huge chocolate doughnut and there’s nothing special about it. It retails at MYR 5.00.

Bad Ass Coffee's Bad Ass Mocha and Jitter Juice
Bad Ass Coffee’s Bad Ass Mocha and Jitter Juice

Bad Ass Mocha which consists of espresso, white and dark chocolate, and steamed milk topped with whip cream, was delightful and enjoyable as a cold drink.

Jitter Juice is latte made of Irish Cream and Dark Chocolate was incredibly delicious with distinctive taste.

Both Bad Ass Mocha and Jitter Juice retail at MYR 13.50.

Overall, even though they are just slightly cheaper than Starbucks, Bad Ass Coffee has better and more tasty coffee by far. If Bad Ass Coffee has more franchises and is nearer to my workplace or place of stay, I would visit them everyday for my cuppa.

Whisk – Espresso Bar & Bake Shop @ Empire Shopping Gallery

Whisk at Empire Shopping Gallery
Whisk at Empire Shopping Gallery

Whisk – Espresso Bar & Bake Shop is a small family-run cafe in Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya, Malaysia.

We decided to give it a try after passing by many times and having heard rave reviews about them. According to Rebecca Saw, the cafe is run by a mother and two sisters.

Recommended by one of the staff there, we decided to order the following: –

Mochaccino Con La Nutella
Mochaccino Con La Nutella

As the name sounds, Mochaccino Con La Nutella is a Mocha drink that is sweet and chocolaty. Nutella reminds me of the hazelnut chocolate spread, perhaps that’s what they use as the glass of Mochaccino is all covered with chocolate that tastes like Nutella. Mochaccino Con La Nutella is a little pricey at MYR 12.

Cafe Con Leche
Cafe Con Leche

Cafe Con Leche is a stronger coffee which is also more aromatic. According to the staff, Cafe Con Leche uses Cafe Bustelo blend from Cuba. Not that bad for MYR 9!

Bub's Cupcake
Bub’s Cupcake

Like most cafes, Whisk also serves cakes, that’s where the last part of the name “Espresso Bar & Bake Shop” comes about.

Bub’s Cupcake is a banana cupcake with peanut butter layer on the outside and cream cheese filling in the inside! It’s quite the bomb, but don’t say I didn’t warn you — it is too good, so don’t have too much of it. It pairs quite well with Cafe Con Leche, if you ask me. Retailing at MYR 5, it’s quite pricey for a single cupcake.

Correction: Black Bottom Rose Creme changed to Bub’s Cupcake. Thanks for the update, Team Whisk!
